Pastor on Coronavirus
As most of us are aware, this Corona-virus is real and our national leadership has asked that we work to limit gatherings to 10 people or less in an attempt to limit and contain this disease. Obviously that affects most churches ability to come together in a church building setting and worship the way we are used to. But I want you to know that the church is not a building and we can worship the Lord anywhere anytime. Through much prayer, thought, and counsel I believe it would be wise that Lighthouse Church of Independence comply with this announcement. I feel that sometimes to be a witness you have to set an example that you can trust God in the middle of any type of situation that takes place and we certainly want to show our community that we are adhering to the request of our authorities for the protection and safety of all those that could be vulnerable to this virus. Scripturally speaking, we find in the Old Testament that there were instructions that were given when someone had a specific diseases that could affect others, and yes in scripture they were quarantined as well. Even after the Lord told them I will heal all of your diseases. So in no way, shape, or form are we operating out of fear, we are operating out of wisdom. And we are trusting that if this disease does continue to spread that our God will protect us and heal us.
With that said, as of today, we are going to be conducting our Mid-week Christian Education class, and our Sunday morning worship services through online technology up until at least the first of April. Wednesday night class will be online at 7pm and Sunday morning worship will be 11:00am. Each of these will be recorded live through Facebook at the following link https://www.facebook.com/122158776335/. This is our Lighthouse Church of Independence Official Facebook Page. We encourage all of our members to use this as our means of staying unified and coming together in this fashion to keep our spiritual body fed.
Next, we do not want this temporary adjustment to affect our support of the church and we do not feel this should be a time where our giving is affected. I strongly believe that you all would agree that just because we are not all physically at the church that doesn't have any bearing on the importance of our still giving our our tithes and offerings. You are more than welcome to come to the church and drop off the offering at 11:00am as I will be delivering the Word from the church or contact me or my wife to make arrangements to give. You also can give right here online. At the top of the main home page screen is a link that states Online Giving. Just simply click it and follow the instructions. It is completely secure and a great way to make sure you honor God.
Lastly, let's allow this season to still be a season where we THRIVE. That means let's stay prayerful, positive, and encouraged. Let's stay in the Word and recognize that these are signs of the end-times, but with that, understand that's a time of comfort for believers. Jesus is coming back soon so let's THRIVE AND LIVE READY and be prepared to give words of hope and encouragement to those that have fear. Let's allow our light to shine. For I Peter 3:15 states:
But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.
I love each of you and praying for you in this season.
